HotAirBalloons

Artist Statement: The wall art prints in the Hot Air Balloons Gallery are my compilation of pieces I did centered around hot air balloons. The look is unique as I used a variety of watercolor or oil painting techniques and color photography to create various options. The different techniques create totally different visual experiences as it relates to interior designs. With many of the styles, they can be used in multiple decor options depending on the way the art print is matted and framed. The final presentation can make a world of difference allowing the print to either stand out as a focal point or blend in with the rest of the room as a complimentary addition to the overall look. My approach to the prints in this gallery is somewhat unique for hot air balloons. Most of my prints focus on the preparation for flight and initial flight. I do have some of the expected “in flight” prints, but my focus is on color and shape with hot air balloons. Having lived in the San Diego area for numerous years, it wasn’t uncommon to see ten plus hot air balloons dotting the sky just before sunset. Having done the flight myself, it is the love of the look of the balloon in all stages that attracted me. The color photography and newest art prints are from the annual Hot Air Festival in Avondale, Arizona (Phoenix metropolitan area). I captured a series of the balloons doing what is called “The Desert Glow” at night. The balloon envelopes lit up against the night sky is an incredible site to see. Whether it is the painted hot air balloons or the photography art prints, I hope you enjoy and appreciate my interpretation.
